Kimberly Richardson’s passion for building the capacity of non-profit and municipal organizations is demonstrated by her many titles – Consultant, Trainer, and Author. As President of Kimberly Richardson Consulting, LLC, she leverages nearly 20 years of experience to benefit her clients and has successfully secured and managed over $62 million in grant awards to date.
Kim has had the distinction of being the first and only grant professional in the State of Alabama to possess the nationally-recognized Grant Professionals Certification (GPC), 2009 -2018, and is a strong proponent of ethical fundraising. She currently serves as President of the Alabama Chapter of the Grant Professionals Association and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Kim attained a Bachelor of Arts from Baldwin-Wallace College (Berea, OH) and a Master’s of Science in Urban Studies – Policy Analysis from Cleveland State University (Cleveland, OH). After spending the early years of her career working in the public and non-profit sectors in Ohio and Alabama, she launched Kimberly Richardson Consulting, LLC in 2006.
Kim’s vast and diverse professional experience not only qualifies her as an excellent grant writer and manager, but a dynamic provider of capacity building assistance. Through trainings, workshops and the provision of technical support, she assists clients in areas as diverse as strategic planning, evaluation, board development, and budget development. Her comprehensive knowledge in these areas helps her clients succeed. With a passion to see organizations flourish, Richardson published The Official Federal Grants Prep Guide, an easy-to-understand guide to help organizations determine the readiness to receive grant funds. The handbook also provides tools to help organizations successfully compete for federal grant funding.
